The Election Commission (EC) issued a new directive outlining the provision of leave appropriately for university staff and students without the loss of private leave or pay. 

Accordingly, the University Grants Commission (UGC) and other relevant bodies were instructed to grant leave for the staff and students, enabling them to vote at the upcoming Local Government (LG) Election.

Private Universities and Higher Education institutions were also requested to grant leave as appropriate to the staff and students in their institutions for the voting process, which is scheduled for 6 May.
