The Anuradhapura Magistrate's Court has fined a train mobile canteen operator Rs. 500,000 for selling a 1,000ml bottle of drinking water above its maximum retail price.

The Consumer Affairs Authority said the operator charged Rs. 150 for a bottle marked at Rs. 120 during a raid on a Kankesanthurai–Colombo train. The CAA has also informed Sri Lanka Railways and said further monitoring will continue.
