A total of 237 suspected cases of Meningitis have been reported across Sri Lanka, according to the Epidemiology Unit.
Health authorities say most cases are believed to be viral meningitis, with schoolchildren accounting for the majority of infections.
Cases have been reported from Deniyaya, Rikillagaskada, Kandy, Badulla, Welimada and Diyatalawa.
As of yesterday (31), 59 patients remained in hospital, while the others had recovered and been discharged.
Authorities have advised the public to use clean, boiled and cooled drinking water and follow health guidelines.
