Minister of Health Nalinda Jayatissa announced plans to enhance quality control in all blood banks and adopt international standards. 

The statement was made at the World Blood Donor Day celebration held at Temple Trees, where Prime Minister (PM) Harini Amarasuriya revealed a proposal to reinstate an annual blood donation day in state institutions.
