A private bus involved in a collision with a Metro bus in Athurugiriya has been temporarily suspended after a motor vehicle examiner found that it had not been properly maintained.

The collision occurred yesterday (8), when the private bus on the Athurugiriya–Pettah route attempted to reverse across the main road to enter the Athurugiriya bus stand, colliding with a Metro bus travelling on the Millennium City–Pettah route.

Police stated that CCTV footage of the incident would be submitted to the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court today (9).

Both drivers underwent drug tests, which confirmed that neither had used drugs.
