Former Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka has condemned the Ceylon Electricity Board’s (CEB) proposal to reduce solar power generation during low-demand periods. 

Ranawaka labeled the move as shortsighted and harmful to Sri Lanka’s renewable energy goals. 

He accused the CEB of shifting blame for the 9 February power outage and warned that curtailing solar energy would prioritize fossil fuels over national energy security and environmental sustainability.

Ranawaka urged President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to reject the plan, calling it a “national crime.”
