The Department of Meteorology said showers will occur in several areas including Uva Province, parts of the Eastern and Central regions, and the Northern Province today (29), with heavy rainfall over 50 mm possible in some places.

Showers or thundershowers are expected in the Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces after 2.00 p.m., while strong winds up to 40 kmph and misty conditions are also likely in several areas.

The public is advised to take precautions against strong winds and lightning.
