Representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreed to provide the necessary support to ensure the implementation of the Sri Lanka Customs’ Declaration Processing System scheduled to be implemented from 1 October 2026, during a recent (11) discussion held with representatives of the government institution.

Further, the team representing the multilateral commended the ongoing efforts made by the Customs and the Revenue Administration, Reform and Modernisation Division of the Presidential Secretariat towards implementing the system. The discussion was held at the Presidential Secretariat, under the chairmanship of Presidential Secretary Dr Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, according to the President’s Media Division (PMD).

During the discussion, officials from Sri Lanka Customs and the Revenue Administration, Reform and Modernisation Division provided a comprehensive briefing to the IMF representatives on the paperless Customs declaration system, the awareness programmes related to its implementation and the technical preparedness of Sri Lanka Customs.  

Presidential Secretariat Senior Additional Secretary of the Revenue Administration, Reform and Modernisation Division Seevali Arukgoda, Sri Lanka Customs Director General Wimal Liyanage, and senior officials from the Revenue Administration, Reform and Modernisation Division and Sri Lanka Customs attended the discussion. 

Representing the IMF, Dinar Prihardini and Klakow Akepanidtaworn participated in the meeting.
