The national programme ‘Rebuilding Sri Lanka’ is set to commence on 13 January at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. 

The initiative aims to coordinate recovery efforts following the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah. 

Financing will be managed through re-purposing projects, re-allocating funds including a Rs. 500 billion supplementary estimate for 2026 and mobilizing donor support.

A 25-member Presidential Task Force, chaired by Prime Minister (PM) Harini Amarasuriya, has been established to oversee the programme, which includes eight sub-committees focused on infrastructure, housing, and livelihood revitalization.
