The ‘Sangamam 2026’ Bharatanatyam festival held at Galle Face Green has secured a new Guinness World Record, with 4,988 dancers participating in a mass performance.
Organisers said the event surpassed the previous record of 416 performers, marking a significant cultural milestone for Sri Lanka.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Deputy Minister Sundaralingam Pradeep and jointly coordinated by India’s Sangamam Global Academy and Sri Lanka’s Sangamizh Liya Holidays, bringing together Bharatanatyam artists from both countries.
The record attempt was officially verified by Guinness World Records adjudicator Rishi Nath from the United Kingdom, who confirmed the achievement following the evaluation process.
