The Ceylon Electricity Board says nearly 200,000 consumers around 25% of its seven million customers—are currently without electricity due to ongoing adverse weather.
The Central Province is the worst affected with over 20,000 outages, while Badulla District faces major delays due to blocked access roads.
Communication issues in several areas have also slowed reporting.
A 9,000-member technical team has been deployed, but the CEB warns that full restoration will take time given the scale of disruptions and poor road conditions.
Residents are urged to remain cautious and stay updated on official restoration notices.
