The Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) has strongly criticized the government's 'Praja Shakthi' national programme. 

ITAK Spokesperson and former MP M.A. Sumanthiran stated that the initiative is being implemented as a party-based effort that operates parallel to the existing state machinery, setting a dangerous precedent. 

He pointed out that development activities meant to be handled by locally elected government officials are instead being carried out through 'Praja Shakthi,' undermining local institutions. 

Sumanthiran warned that the program contradicts constitutional provisions and indicated that legal action may be taken against it in the future.
