Vehicular movement along the Somawathiya–Sungavila main road remains suspended following flooding caused by the overflow of the Mahaweli River. 

The flooding has affected an area between the 35th and 37th kilometers from the Diggala region, with water levels reaching approximately two and a half feet.

Authorities have advised motorists to use alternative routes when traveling to the Somawathiya sacred site to ensure safety. 

The floodwaters continue to pose challenges for transportation, and officials are monitoring the situation closely.

Residents and visitors are urged to stay updated on road conditions and exercise caution while traveling in the affected areas.
