Farmers in the Northern, North Central, Eastern and Uva provinces are facing difficulties due to prevailing dry weather and limited water supplies.

Paddy cultivation in Polonnaruwa has been affected, while farmers in Anuradhapura have also reported crop damage due to the lack of water.

The Department of Meteorology has indicated that significant rainfall is not expected in the affected areas before October and November.
