Traditional Chinese Medicine: CAMA delegation joins global training

04 May 2026

A delegation from the Ceylon Association of Medical Acupuncturists (CAMA) recently took part in an international training programme in China, alongside a major global acupuncture conference.

The programme, titled the International Training Workshop on Application and Development Methodology of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Standards, was organised by the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS) and hosted by China’s Ministry of Science and Technology.

Held from 8 to 22 April across Beijing, Tianjin, and Zhengzhou, the training included academic sessions, clinical exposure, and visits to leading Traditional Chinese Medicine institutions.

Participants also attended the 2026 International Acupuncture and Moxibustion Conference in Zhengzhou, which brought together practitioners, researchers, and policymakers from several countries.

Sri Lanka was represented by CAMA President Dr. Vimukthi Asahara, Secretary Dr. Anuradha Perera, and Legal Advisor Attorney-at-Law Thineth Korasagalla.

The programme focused on global standard-setting, clinical guidelines, patient safety, and research-based practice. The exposure is expected to support efforts to improve professional standards and contribute to policy development related to acupuncture in Sri Lanka.
