Jayne Howell, a seasoned career diplomat and member of the US Senior Foreign Service, has been appointed as the new Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Sri Lanka, effective June 2025.

Howell brings a wealth of global diplomatic experience, having served in key consular roles across Pakistan, Türkiye, Ghana, Zimbabwe, and Afghanistan. In Washington, she led major initiatives in consular leadership and management reform, earning the State Department’s Luther I. Replogle Award.

Originally from Charleston, South Carolina, Howell holds a degree in Archaeological Studies and is known for her love of ancient cultures, deep-sea fishing, and global culinary exploration.
