The Ministry of Defence has proposed deploying the Tri-Services to strengthen wild elephant conservation and reduce human-elephant conflict in Sri Lanka.

The proposal includes establishing an Operations Centre at Army Headquarters to coordinate activities with wildlife authorities, veterinary specialists and other agencies.

Measures would include preventing elephant killings, improving surveillance and information sharing, and conducting joint operations in affected areas.
