The Sectoral Oversight Committee on Infrastructure and Strategic Development has ordered an investigation into delays in issuing vehicle number plates and driving licences.

Officials have been instructed to submit a report within 45 days covering the causes of the delays, administrative and technical issues, and tender and procurement processes.

Officials stated around 678,000 driving licences are pending printing. Two new machines are expected by 15 October, increasing daily printing capacity from about 4,600 to 8,200 licences.
