Sri Lanka has been elected to the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination (CEDAW) against Women at elections held at the United Nations Headquarters.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sri Lanka secured 144 of 185 valid votes, the highest among the successful candidates.

The Ministry said the result reflects international support for Sri Lanka's commitment to promoting women's rights and gender equality.
