An international Test cricket ground will be established in Jaffna under a future Samagi Jana Sandhanaya (SJS) Government, Opposition Leader and SJS Presidential candidate MP Sajith Premadasa said recently. 

Addressing a media briefing of the Jaffna Press Club, the lawmaker said that along with the grounds, a sports development programme will also be introduced for the youth of Jaffna. 

Pointing out that during his previous visit, a controversy had risen following his remarks about a Test venue in the Jaffna Peninsula, MP Premadasa said that this conversation had led to the proposal to establish an international Test ground in the district.

Premadasa added that a land in the district which is currently under the purview of the SLC will be developed into an international cricketing ground while providing training facilities for other sports as well.
