Gary Anandasangaree has been sworn in as Canada’s Minister of Justice and Attorney General, as well as Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs, under newly appointed Prime Minister Mark Carney.
Born in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, Anandasangaree is the son of Tamil politician V. Anandasangaree. A longtime Liberal Party member, he has represented Scarborough—Rouge Park since 2015 and has been a strong advocate for human rights and Indigenous affairs.
Following his appointment, Anandasangaree reaffirmed his commitment to upholding Canadian values and the rule of law.
