- Alleged to be operating shady business
ICC Elite Panel umpire, Kumar Dharmasena, in a video message posted on his social media account recently, has dismissed alleged claims in the local media, connecting him to an unlawful agricultural business, operated in the country.
In his video message, the 52-year-old ex-all-rounder, who mostly stood out in white ball cricket in his playing days, has mentioned that his factory for the production of agarwood, popularly known as oudh products, were being carried out as per the laws of the land.
The former Nalanda College skipper, who retired from competitive cricket 18 years ago, has further noted that the Pintanna Plantations agarwood cultivation was open for anyone to engage in an inspection tour, which will further underscore the fact, the cultivation factory was adhering to stringent guidelines.
Dharmasena, who has been umpiring since 2009 while being a much-sought-after match official, stated that the media reports claiming an illegal business, was nothing but a well orchestrated campaign, aimed at tarnishing his image in the public eye, by his adversaries.
He has lastly stressed that the agarwood cultivation is being operated as per the requisite legal provisions and reiterated that he takes personal responsibility for the functioning of the plant.
