Police said Dialog Axiata has requested the public, through the Inspector General of Police, to exercise caution around telecommunication cables exposed or damaged due to ongoing adverse weather conditions.
The company said fiber-optic and copper cables have been affected in several areas, including underground lines damaged during road repairs, slowing the restoration of communication services.
The public is warned not to cut, damage, or tamper with any cables, as such actions are punishable by law.
Police urged the public to report any interference with telecom infrastructure to the nearest police station and to inform authorities if underground cables are found during road reconstruction, to support safe and swift restoration efforts.
