The final rites of veteran Sri Lankan singer Latha Walpola were held with state honours this evening(31) at the Borella General Cemetery in Colombo.

Her mortal remains were placed at Independence Square earlier today for the public to pay their last respects.

Religious observances were held before the remains were taken to Borella for burial.

Latha Walpola passed away on December 27 at the age of 91.
