The driver of the cab involved in the fatal accident near a Vesak dansala in Meegoda has been remanded until 16 June by the Homagama Magistrate’s Court.

Police stated that the 42-year-old suspect from Piliyandala was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

Six people were killed and seven others, including a child, were injured when the cab veered off the road and struck a crowd gathered near the Vesak dansala on Saturday night. Investigations are continuing.
