The Department of Immigration and Emigration Sri Lanka has announced that from 25 May 2026, nationals of 40 countries will be eligible for a free 30-day Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for tourist visits.
The list includes Australia, China, India, Japan, United Kingdom, United States, Germany, France, and several other countries across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
Holders of diplomatic, official, service, and ordinary passports from these countries will qualify under the scheme. Double-entry is permitted within the 30-day validity period.
Maldivian nationals will continue to receive a 90-day tourist ETA under the existing bilateral arrangement.
All foreign nationals must obtain an ETA before arrival. Extensions beyond 30 days are allowed with applicable fees. Any ETA fees paid before today (25) will not be refunded.
