Clifford Cup K/O draw released

17 Mar 2025

  • Kandy and Havies likely to meet in finale

The 2025 Clifford Cup Knockout Rugby Quarterfinal line up has been released and the draw sees some exciting games on the cards for those who follow the sudden death version of the sport.

Defending champions Police, League champions Kandy SC, Havelocks SC, CR and FC, CH and FC, Army SC, Air Force SC and Sri Lions SC, are the eight teams to book their berth with Navy SC missing out.

In the quarters Kandy SC are set to welcome League debutants Sri Lions to Nittawela in the first game on 27 March, while on the following day Air Force are slated to host Plate champions CH and FC at Ratmalana.

In the third quarterfinal on Saturday (29), Havies are due to host Army SC at Havelock Park, while 24-hours later CR and FC are scheduled to lock horns with title-holders Police at Longden Place.

The quarterfinal ties between Air Force and CH and the one between CR and Police, are too close to call at the moment.

Hence if each of their performances in the concluded League championship is anything to go by with, fans will be in for some last-gasp results.

In the rest of the two quarters and on current form both Kandy SC and Havies are likely to book their passage into the semis without much alarm against Sri Lions and Army, respectively.

The winners of the game between KSC and Sri Lions are set to meet the winners of the Air Force-CH clash in the first semifinal on 2 April at Nittawela.

The winners of the match between Havies-Army are due to face the winners of the game between CR-Police in the second semifinal on 3 April at Havelock Park. The final is scheduled for 6 April at Nittawela.
