An Istanbul-bound passenger flight safely returned to the Bandaranaike International Airport after a bird strike shortly after take-off.

The aircraft, carrying 246 passengers, carried out precautionary fuel-dumping procedures before landing safely at 10.24 a.m.

Airport authorities were placed on standby as a precaution.
