The United National Party (UNP) has released a copy of the official invitation extended by the University of Wolverhampton to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe and his wife, Professor Maithree Wickremesinghe.

The party stated that the invitation had been issued in connection with an official event at the university and asserted that no state funds were misused in relation to the former President’s visit.

Wickremesinghe was earlier summoned to the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) to record a statement regarding the matter.
