The Department of Meteorology has issued an “Amber” advisory for high waves in sea areas from Chilaw to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Matara.

Wave heights may reach approximately 2.0–3.0 metres in these sea areas.

There is also a possibility of seawater inundation in nearshore areas from Beruwala to Matara via Galle.

Naval, fishing and coastal communities in the affected areas have been advised to remain vigilant.
