A 73-year-old man has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) over an alleged property fraud involving a forged deed for a property in Barnes Place, Colombo 7.

Police stated that the CID Financial Investigation Unit launched an inquiry following a complaint that forged documents had been prepared and used in the alleged fraud.

Investigators allege that the suspect submitted the forged documents in court proceedings and later sold the property for Rs. 10 million.

The suspect, a resident of Kalutara, was arrested in Kalutara town. Further investigations are underway.
