The Ministry of Health has urged the public to take precautions to prevent firework-related accidents during the New Year season.

Dr Samitha Sirithunga, Community Physician and Head of the Accident Prevention Unit at the Ministry’s Non-Communicable Diseases Unit, advised parents and guardians not to allow children to handle fireworks without adult supervision.

He also called on the public to celebrate the festive season responsibly and ensure a safe, accident-free New Year.
