The Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) has welcomed concerns raised by the United Nations over the lack of progress on accountability and longstanding issues affecting Sri Lanka’s Tamil community.
ITAK General Secretary M. A. Sumanthiran cited military-held lands, enforced disappearances, political prisoners, the Chemmani mass grave investigation and delayed Provincial Council elections.
He urged the government to fulfil its election commitments, including constitutional reform addressing the aspirations of the Tamil people.
