Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananda Wijepala alleged that ongoing interrogations of organised criminals and their associates, including Ishara Sewwandi, who was arrested recently, have revealed information regarding politicians with links to organised crime groups.

Speaking during the Parliamentary Committee Stage debate yesterday (18), he confirmed that investigations are currently underway in this regard.

He further noted that red notices have been issued for an additional 80 organised criminals, and the authorities are actively coordinating with Interpol to apprehend the individuals.

He stated that recent interrogations of organised crime suspects arrested in Indonesia after 30 August have led to the recovery of seven Type-56 firearms, one T-81 firearm, six pistols, nine revolvers, two other weapons, and a total of 909 ammunition.
