Sri Lanka Railways has introduced new speed limits and revised night train schedules in elephant crossing zones to reduce collisions.

The updated timetable, effective 7 March, 2025, includes changes on the Colombo Fort – Batticaloa and Colombo Fort – Trincomalee routes. 

Key trains affected are Udaya Devi, Pulathisi, Meenagaya, and Train 7083/7084.

These adjustments aim to enhance wildlife protection while ensuring smooth rail operations.
