A series of inter-religious programs begins today (09) across Sri Lanka to bless those affected by Cyclone Ditwah and to remember those who lost their lives, Minister of Buddhism, Religious and Cultural Affairs Hiniduma Sunil Senevi announced.

The program opens tonight with a Pirith sermon at Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Seemamalaka, followed by alms-giving to 100 monks tomorrow morning (10).

Additional religious services will be held at Bambalapitiya Kadiresan Kovil, Grandpass St. Joseph’s Church, St. Paul’s Church in Colombo 08, and Wellawatte Jumma Mosque.

The minister noted significant damage to religious sites: 379 Buddhist temples, 165 kovils, 63 churches, and 157 mosques.

Each affected site will receive a Rs. 25,000 grant for repairs and rebuilding.
