The Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) has praised Canada’s decision to keep the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and the World Tamil Movement (WTM) on its list of terrorist entities. 

The Canadian review highlights the LTTE’s ongoing international fundraising and procurement activities and WTM's role in facilitating these activities. 

Accordingly, this extension, confirmed in June 2024, follows similar bans by India, the EU, and the UK.
