Sri Lanka secured their third consecutive win at the T20 World Cup for the Blind, defeating Bangladesh by 8 wickets yesterday (10) at the MCA Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana, Mumbai.
Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bowl first. They managed to restrict the Bangla Tigers to 146/7 in their 20 overs. Lions’ new-ball bowlers Upul Sanjeewa and Murugan Mohanraja were the chief performers, picking up two wickets apiece.
Mohanraja is also currently the highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 6 wickets in just 3 matches under his name. The run chase was a cakewalk for the Sri Lankans, who finished off the job in the 16th over with 8 wickets in hand.
Sri Lankan opener Damith Sandaruwan and No. 4 batter Chandana Deshapriya both scored half centuries to secure the chase with ease.
Sri Lanka are currently ahead of the points table after winning all three games they have played so far. The current title holders and hosts India are placed second in the points table, winning two of two.
