Foreign diplomats stationed in Sri Lanka last week participated in a celebration of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year that was organised by the Foreign Ministry.
The event that was held at the Police Park saw the foreign diplomats clad in traditional Sri Lankan attire participate in the Avurudu Kumariya and Kumaraya pageants.
A traditional game of ‘elle’ was also held with the participation of the diplomats before being served a traditional Sri Lankan meal including New Year sweetmeats.
It was interesting to see the diplomats leave aside the usual geopolitical battles to engage in some lighthearted moments.
