Sri Lanka is marking International Labour Day today (1) with large-scale rallies and parades organized by political parties and trade unions under various themes.
The National People’s Power's (NPP) main rally is at Galle Face Green, led by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, while the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) alliance holds its celebration in Talawakele under Sajith Premadasa.
The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), Sarvajana Balaya, and Frontline Socialist Party are also staging separate rallies in Nugegoda, Colombo, Warakapola, and Kirulapone respectively.
Police have announced a special traffic plan for Colombo and major cities, urging motorists to avoid congested areas.
