The Legends Tour has announced the inaugural Sri Lanka Legends, presented by Intervest, which is scheduled to take place from 25-31 January 2026 at the scenic Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC).
This was revealed to the media during a news conference held by the officials of the RCGC, Intervest, and Legends Tour Chief Operating Officer Mark Aspland at the RCGC in Colombo on Thursday (31 July).
The organisers of the landmark event said it would be the first Legends Tour Tournament held in Sri Lanka, bringing some of the world’s most celebrated golfing legends to Colombo for the very first time.
Formerly known as the European Senior Tour, it rebranded as the Legends Tour in 2020 and has since pioneered a fresh and dynamic era for senior golf, according to officials.
Aspland remarked that although it was too early to confirm yet, they would be doing their best to get hold of Ryder Cup legends and major winners such as Colin Montgomerie, Paul Lawrie, Michael Campbell, Paul McGinley, and Jose Maria Olazabal to compete in Sri Lanka next January.
“Sri Lanka is a nation of natural beauty and sporting passion, and we look forward to showcasing the Legends Tour in this part of the world,” Aspland noted.
“This tournament marks another significant step in our mission to grow the game globally, offering fans with new opportunities to experience golf alongside some of its most iconic players,” the Legends Tour Chief Operating Officer added.
RCGC Captain Gehan Siribaddana, Ajith Dandeniya of Intervest, and Intervest Founder and Chairman and Legends Tour Chairman Ryan Howsam also spoke at the event, the latter through a pre-recorded video message from Scotland.
