Arumahandi Janith Madhusankha de Silva, known as “Podi Lassie,” a prominent alleged drug trafficker wanted for multiple homicides, was escorted from Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) upon his arrival early today (27). 

The suspect, who was previously apprehended in India, arrived in Sri Lanka under the supervision of a special police team.  

Police Media Spokesperson ASP F. U. Wootler confirmed that “Podi Lassie” will be handed over to the Galle District Crimes Division for further investigation. 

The return of the suspect marks a significant development in ongoing efforts to combat organized crime and drug trafficking in Sri Lanka.
