Sri Lanka’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Sumith Dassanayake, recently engaged in a productive meeting with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Ambassador Volker Türk.

According to the Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Geneva, the discussions took place at Palais Wilson, where Ambassador Dassanayake briefed the High Commissioner on recent developments in Sri Lanka and exchanged views on matters of mutual interest.  

He reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s commitment to ongoing and constructive engagement with the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). 

In response, High Commissioner Türk appreciated the briefing and expressed continued support for Sri Lanka through OHCHR.
