An exciting day of sevens rugby concluded at the Race Course Ground as day 1 of the Zahira College Centenary U20 Rugby Sevens 2024 was held with the top rugby-playing schools vying for glory. 

A total of 16 teams participated in the group stage, which was played in 4 different pools with 4 teams each.

After a thrilling group stage round, it was Zahira College, Royal College, D.S. Senanayake College, and St. Peter’s College that remained unbeaten to seal the top spots in their respective pools. 

The hosts, Zahira College beat St. Aloysius’ College in the opening game by 22-7 and then went on to beat Dharmaraja College (21-19) and S. Thomas’ College (35-17) to take the top spot in the group.
