Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation Anura Karunathilaka stated that all flights to and from the Middle East have been suspended until midnight today (02) due to ongoing regional tensions.
He noted that while some airspaces remain partially open, a decision on resuming operations will be taken after midnight.
The Minister confirmed that efforts are underway to repatriate Sri Lankans stranded at various Middle Eastern airports, while tourists in Sri Lanka have been granted visa extensions and necessary arrangements to remain in the country if required.
He further stated that naval operations remain unaffected, adding that authorities are prepared to provide docking facilities for ships arriving at Colombo and Hambantota ports.
