The Department of Meteorology has issued an ‘Amber’ advisory for severe lightning affecting several parts of Sri Lanka.
The advisory, issued at 11.00 a.m. today (09), will remain in effect until 11.30 p.m.
Accordingly, thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, Uva, North-Western, Northern and North-Central provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee District after 1.00 p.m.
The department also warned that temporary localized strong winds may occur during thundershowers.
