Officers of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) have conducted a search at the office premises of former Parliamentarian Sagala Ratnayaka at Morawaka in Matara, as part of their efforts to locate Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon.

An open warrant has been issued against Tennakoon – who is temporarily suspended from occupying the office of the IGP – by the Matara Magistrate’s Court (MC), upon the request of the CID. Previously, the Matara MC had issued the warrant in connection with a shooting incident that occurred in front of the W15 Hotel in the Pelena area of Weligama, Matara, on 31 December 2023.
