The Kotte Sangha Sabha has urged the Commissioner General of Prisons not to remove the Buddhist monk robes of Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero.

In a written request, the Sangha Sabha stated that it had no information indicating that Gnanasara Thero had committed an offence or serious violation under the Vinaya Pitaka warranting the removal of his robes.

The Sangha Sabha further stated that any disciplinary inquiry concerning his monkhood falls within its responsibility.

It requested that Gnanasara Thero be allowed to retain his robes and appear before relevant authorities wearing them.
