President Anura Kumara Dissanayake described the visit of UK Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy as timely and crucial for strengthening international confidence in Sri Lanka’s recovery.
During their meeting at the Presidential Secretariat, the President emphasized that the high-level engagement comes at a vital moment as Sri Lanka rebuilds after an economic crisis and cyclone Ditwah.
He highlighted the longstanding friendship between Sri Lanka and the UK, appreciating the UK's support in areas like tourism, exports, and debt restructuring.
The President also praised the UK’s decision to grant zero-tariff access for Sri Lankan textiles, which benefits local industries.
Expressing optimism about the future, President Dissanayake underscored the importance of international cooperation in tourism, exports, and foreign investment, and expressed confidence that the UK can play a key role in Sri Lanka’s ongoing economic stabilization.
