Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne announced plans to transform the Speaker’s official residence into a knowledge centre for members of Parliament, Provincial Councils, and Local Authorities. 

The centre will focus on international relations, fiscal policy, and Governance, and aims to become a national and international research institute. 

The announcement was made during a meeting with an European Union (EU) delegation under the Inter Pares project, which supports parliamentary capacity-building in Sri Lanka.
